Getting back to the (new) normal at The Glasgow Mortgage Company

It’s been a challenging few months, but it’s time to try and get back to our (new) normal - starting with moving back into the office. For those that don’t know, our offices are based in the West End of Glasgow, just opposite Kelvingrove Park. We’ve missed the views and the hustle and bustle of Glasgow…not to mention The Glasgow Mortgage Company team!

Throughout lockdown, we all kept in touch thanks to Zoom. Our days would start with a meeting in the morning where we would chat about our cases and business-related matters too. Of course, it also gave us the opportunity to shoot the breeze and hold conversations with people outwith our households (which was often much needed)! A highlight of our week would be on Friday afternoon where we would use Zoom to have virtual drinks and games…the perfect way to start the weekend.

In addition, Zoom allowed us to continue with meetings with our lenders, keeping us in the know when it came to mortgages rates and information. We also kept in regular contact with senior directors and managers at PRIMIS who kept us in the loop about the network and new initiatives too. This meant that we were still able to offer our clients the same great quality service they were used to throughout – lockdown or no lockdown!

We are so grateful that in spite of a global pandemic, July was our busiest month so far at The Glasgow Mortgage Company. We helped our clients secure an amazing 115 mortgages and mortgage lending to the sum of £15.5 million. Our team is also growing and we’re on the hunt for a new Trainee Protection Case Manager. However, we wouldn’t be telling the truth if we said that Zoom was a like for like replacement for being in the office. Being able to see each other face-to-face and talk without arranging a time or Meeting ID has been most welcomed. Naturally, things in the office look a little bit different, with the health and well-being of the team being an even higher priority than before. We’re all socially distancing, we’ve got hand sanitisers throughout the office and we’re able to accommodate more flexibility when it comes to our working patterns too.

Moving onwards and upwards, we’re looking forward to finding even more of our clients the right mortgage and protection products to suit their own specific circumstances. It’s not all work and no play though, so we’re also excited for when we can start going for walks in Kelvingrove again (weather permitting of course) and for our upcoming socially distanced company BBQ as well.
